Michael Kaminski, and his team of
dedicated volunteers, started the annual
Merrill Lynch 3-on-3 for Community
Basketball Tournament in 2005 as a
fundraiser for a local
Charlottesville/Albemarle charity.  His love
of basketball and the lack of a 3-on-3
tournament in the area seemed like a
natural fit to benefit the community.  In
2005,  the Tournament partnered with
Children, Youth and Family Services who
was the beneficiary of the over $10,000.00
that the event raised.

In 2007, "3-on3 for Community"
incorporated and gained tax-exempt status.
The initial members of the Board of
Directors are Michael Kaminski (President),
Kate Kaminski (Secretary) and Daniel
Thornton.  

Each year the Tournament grows to include
more teams, expand into different divisions
and raise additional funds for local
charities.  The event also provides a fun
family activity with vendors, inflatable
games, activities and food for participants
and observers alike.

Michael's vision is already becoming
another Charlottesville tradition.  Look for it
on the first Saturday in April!
